tire compatibility info.
hi, i have a 2004 cl600. my manual calls for 245 45 18 front tires and 265 40 18 rears. i was recently offered a set of rims and tires. don't have the front size, but the rears are 275 30 19's. will changing the tire size, or rim size cause any issues for the car. i have also seen more 275 30 18's available. any significant problem with the different size 18's?
thanks

You have to check the offset of the wheels as well, check this link for fitment

while we are on the wheel and tire subject, i have a 2006 cl500 and a 2006 cl55.
the cl500 runs on 18" wheels, the cl55 on 19".
i am preferring the ride comfort of the 18" wheel/tire combo.
any thoughts on changing out the cl55 to 18" wheels and tires.

The 05 Cl55 came standard with staggered 18"wheels. I like mine. Make sure you get the correct offset.

what i want to do is put the exact same amg 18" wheels and tires on the cl55 that are used on the cl500.
my cl55 came with these chromed amg alloys. too much bling. and they seem to have a corrosion problem that the straight alloys on the cl500 do not have. a corrosion problem along the sealing circumference that results in a slow leak.
the straight alloys on the cl500 do not exhibit this problem.
by the way, is there any way to acquire these amg alloys without buying them from a m-b dealer?

I think you want the wheels that come with the CL500 AMG performance package. I forget the number but they are flat 5 spoke not split. they do give the car a more conservative look.
I just waited to acquire mine on one of the forums. Also, ebay sometimes have dealers who take these wheels in exchange for whatever is fashionable.
You contact Jay at www.mymercedesparts.com for best prices on true AMG and mb wheels.

okay, the wheels have the proper offset. they came off a 2010 s55amg. these are wheels he replaced the originals with. when he sold the car he reinstalled the stock wheels. the rims are modulare forged and as i said the rear tires are 275 30 19. my 2004 cl600 now has stock 265 40 18 rear tires. will the new set up cause any concerns, or problems? also can i go with a 275 30 18 rear tire and what effects would that have?
thanks
p.s. interesting to hear that the 18's were reported to run more comfortably than the 19's.

You might want to copy/move this to the tire and wheel thread where the fitment experts are.

the rims on a 2010 s class have a different offset than the 215 cl class. They may still work but the only way to know is to test fit
NEVER buy rims online unless fitment is guaranteed. Or you are prepared to resell them at a loss if they dont fit right
