W215 2003 CL500 glove box mp3 auxilary-in
Does anyone know if the CL500 2003 Model is wired/cable-ready for plugging in the cable that leads to glove box so that one can plug in there auxilary cable for mp3 player or whatever else?
I have a 2005 CLK500 and my buddy has the CL500. It was ready on the CLK and i only had to buy the cable from Mercedes and install took all of 5 minutes. Is the CL500 also equipped that way? Anyone know? He doesn't want to change out the stereo.
He has the stereo just like in this picture:
Thanks all!

E53 Wagon, Model 3, Miata, etc, etc
if he have aux in glove box, it's accessed from SVC and select aux, in it, sound settings can be adjusted for bass and treble etc, but it'll reset to stock every time you turn off command

Thanks for your response.
Do you know where in the car the cable can be accessed and if it is easy or not for anyone to do?
On the CLK it was on the passenger side under plastic piece when you open the door behind the rug. Then all that needed to be done is buy the cable and connect to existing wiring.
Where on the CL is this existing wiring and do you know the cable part number that needs to be purchased?
thanks!

Are you saying that the auxilary plug is already installed on the 2003 CL in the glove box? i don't recall having seen it there.
Are you 100% sure about that?

2004 CL55
It might not be there. We've had difficulty with this one before. Seems very odd, but all my 2004 CL55 has is a little black cap where the AUX cable "should" be. It should be on the left wall of the inside of the glovebox.

I have wired and tucked it so I can plug in my iphone to play songs in the CL and leave the phone by ash tray, might be just for some 03s.... and mine's Canadian... if it makes any difference... cuz 04s have DVD command, so I guess is that the system is different so no aux in for new command but 03 (using CD based yet new style) has, but they still use the same glove box part from 03?

ATTN: Patentmat
that's right Patentmat.
the 2003 is not yet installed with the wire in the glovebox in this car either.
BUT there must be some kind of wire plug where to plug that cable into the glove box. it is a cable purchased from Mercedes.
this is the case of the CLK and all i am trying to find out from someone who truly knows...is if the CL is ALSO set up the same way. no one here seems to have the real answer unfortunately.

On my 2003 there is a AUX input on the right side of the glove compartment. I just plugged a 3.5mm stereo cable (3.5mm (1/8") male connector) into there.

1) do you have a CL 500 2003? or is it a CL 600 or an AMG perhaps?
2) did you buy your car brand new or used? if used perhaps previous owner had cable installed and therefore you have the hookup already in your glove box
3) the 2003 CL 500 i am referring to may be 'pre-wired' (meaning don't have to take radio/stereo out and plug cable in back of the system)....however there must still be yet another cable that is 'PLUGGED INTO' the existing wiring that is perhaps hidden away behind the carpet or wall in the car itself.
4) if anyone knows for sure please feel free to let me know.
5) i know already 100% about my CLK500 and it was prewired and all i had to do is plug the cable into the pre-existing wiring...then put the "auxilary-in plug" through the precut hole in the glove box
I just need to know from someone who has actually gone through this same process on the CL500 2003 model.
I'm constantly having to re-type the same information and i'm not sure how much more plainly or detailed i can get my point across.
thanks if someone knows.

I second that definitely 10 years ahead of its time! I have the jack in my 2003 cl500 in the glove's right side. Just need to access through the service button on the stock deck. Only down fall as mentioned above it the sound setting won't save.

Good luck. By the way, the plug for it would be in the glove box all the way to the right. If there is no plug you don't have it for your car. Put there may be an plastic piece you could poke out where the cable would be hooked up though. If not then I am guessing on the 2003 and newer are the only ones.

Connecting AUX cable to 04 Cl500
Hey I have a 2004 Mercedes CL500 and I'm trying to figure out how to set up an auxiliary cable connection for my iPhone. Anyone with a 04 CL500 able to accomplish this?
