When I purchased my CL. I was a bit disappointed it didn't have every option ie:auto trunk close, distronic, park assist. None of which I would use anyway.

Now it's obvious they are things I won't have to fix either.

Thanks for all your information. It has been quite helpful. Could you tell me how to remove the locking rod. I believe it should pop off the ball joint but I am afraid I might damage something. Would rather know what I am doing. Thanks again, John

S600 trunk problem

I have just replaced the vacuum pump that activates door closures, door locks and lumbar bags ect. The old one had over heated and failed.

After replacing the vacuum pump, all the above functions work normally. But when I try to open the trunk, the trunk does unlock, but lift pump does not come on. The indicator light on inside trunk button does not come on.

Does anyone no what the problem might be?

Check your hydraulic pump under the battery. I bet it needs fluid.

Digging up an old thread. What kind of fluid does the trunk closer take?
ATF? Pentosin?

Either will work
Pentosin is higher quality synthetic , if you already have some use it
Otherwise no need to Spend on pentosin if you already have atf handy

So, got the pump off, but don't see any way to add fluid other than removing the reservoir, fill it up and put it back on.

????

Only if you have the power opening and closing trunk lid
Not all cl500 have it, some just have a trunk opener

I have a friend with a CL500 with the power trunk. His is acting up just like Sherri's was.

I have invited them over to the house (they haven't seen our new place yet) and offered to fix the trunk issue. If they take us up on it, I will take pics this time. Very easy fix. Hardest part was getting that mongo sized battery out of there. Awkward angle.
