2001 cl 600
2001 cl 600 wont shift
( new to forum).....my 01 cl 600 wont shift out of park. never had this prob before. has anyone else had this prob, or know what would cause it?

Search this forum. If memory serves me correctly you will find your probable answer and solution in the W220 forum.

The shift lock is a plastic part and brakes over time and use.

I found it on ebay for $89

I had same problem on my cl

Merzedes Benz CL S Class Aluminum Parking Pawl Lock Lever Repair Kit 5 mm

cl 600 wont shift
I have the same problem and I got the part from ebay, how hard is it to install ? what tools do I need and what needs to get done ? can I do it myself ?

Yes you can diy to bad

Torx to remove center console
A pik set to help remove harness plugs
Screwers to remove armrest
After remove shifter use drill to take broken shift selector
Rivet gun to reinstall

Do I have to remove middle console ? I can't do it with the shifter knob out and the SHIFTER WOOD TRIM COVER out ?

I don't think you need to remove the whole console, but I haven't done it before.
