intermitent problem with nav and radio
2004 cl600. ocassionally, abot 10% of the time when i shut the car and restart it within 10 minutes my nav screen dims and then shuts off. all functions cease including on, off. the system freezes up and then within 2-3 minutes the screen goes blank and then restarts and everything functions normally. does anyone know what this problem is, or the cure. my service rep told me to leave it alone. he said it was a gliche in the sytem. anyone else have this issue, or advice?

Please do not get me wrong, I'm not trying to offend anyone but if you speak with any MBZ tech at MBZ, they will tell you to stay away from the 04 because it was the first M.O.S.T and the fiber optics were not successful. I had the voice command and sometime the phone wouldn't sink, or the radio would just cut out for no reason or the Nav would shut off. You name it. Anything to do with the Command was a nightmare. It might depend of the build date but any MBZ tech or knowledgeable service adviser will tell you stick with the 03 or the 05-06. That is all I'm saying. Your lucky that you haven't had any issues but I don't know if you have the voice command with phone set up and your currently using your phone you are having issues, that I can promise you. If you dont have a phone and the voice command your system might just be fine. I just know the system wasn't able to keep up with the needs of the electronics. That is just what I have experienced and what I was told by a MBZ mechanic at the dealership who has been working on these cars before they introduced the W125.

I had the V60X and the phone system wasnt bad I just couldnt get the damn thing to work correctly. I would have to remove the phone, turn it on and replace it back in the craddle. It drove me crazy. Now my friend has an 04 and he put in the puck with the plug, because his car didnt come with the Voice Command and he hasnt had any trouble. I think its all because of the Voice Command isnt compatible with the entire interface of the Command set up and phone set up. Anyway, I got rid of the car and IM happy I did. No, offense.

You have no idea how many times I went to the dealership over the damn thing. You must have the Voice Command set up on the car right? I think if you remove the module and put in a non Voice Command module it just might solve the issue oh and if you have the phone module remove it as well. I think they have terrible conflicts. They resolved all those issues in 2005. They went got rid of the fiber optic M.O.S.T first Gen system.
