lifter replacement question

going to go ahead and swap out my lifters when i do my 90k tune up here in a few months (instead of spending 7 grand at an indy), i just wanted to make sure before i ordered, there's 1 exhaust and 1 intake lifter for each cylinder correct? so i'm ordering 8 intake lifters and 8 exhaust lifters?

also doing plugs, ignition coils and valve cover gaskets

another question i had, if my old lifters developed some erratic noise overtime, does that mean there's an issue elsewhere in my engine that is causing these lifters to go bad? will the new ones eventually get noisy also?

CL 500 (2003 W215). Range Rover Sport. Ferrari 360 spider. Ferrari F355 spider. MV Agusta F4.
Why do the lifters need replacing on a 5ltr V8 at 90k miles?
I would have thought the Merc V8 was under stressed, are yours ticking?
I have a couple of V8 Ferrari ( F360 and F355 spider) that is arguably less robust than the Merc V8 and there is never an issue of the lifters ticking no matter what the milage. I assume the Merc V8 also has hydrolics lifters?

apparently lifter noise is pretty common on these m113 v8's, mine only started happening after someone dumped sand and bleach into my gastank and i drove it for 5-10 miles ignorantly. from my thorough internet research on the lifter noise it does not cause any damage, but it's quite annoying and often the first thing people want to point out about your german sports car (when they don't have one)
