Parktronic Sensors
Gentlemen
I have just had a STAR computer check on my 2002 CL500 which showed that 6 out of the 8 Parktronic Sensors where faulty. When driving the car I would say that the sensors were over sensitive rather than dead, as the system is always giving false warnings. Does this make sense, and is renewing the sensors a DIY job?
Thank you

I took mine in for the same issue here is what they found
I took the car in when the system was in total on mode. Meaning it was at the red zone and the buzzer was going off. They took it to the back and put in on the NEW Star system, it said I had all my front sensors were bad. Well, I took it to a guy who has the OLD Star system and he found that I had only 1 sensor that was bad. I painted one that I had here as I have about 8 of them on hand. Put it in in all of 10 minutes and never saw another days trouble. The dealer wanted to pull the bumper and replace the wiring harness and I said, NO way. So, make sure you use the older Star system on your car and it will be more accurate on the older cars. The new Star computer is actually better for the newer models. If the old Star gives you the same I would assume its the harness not the sensors. If it is the sensors I have enough to replace them.

Good advice guys, thank you.
I tried the simple test, driving the car at different angles into a wall, and the system seem to work as it should by turning red with about 6inches to go. So the only real problem is the over sensitivity, and I think that Mercs. sell low sense replacement units presumably to check this problem?

No only one sensor for all
You might be able to have them put the car on the OLD Star system and calibrate them but other than that if everything is working leave it alone. You could have a person walk up to each one and see which one goes crazy if all but two are bad then replace all but two.
