Bare wires behind headlight assembly?

I am puzzled by finding these two apparently uninsulated wires just behind the headlamp assembly. They look purposefully uninsulated and come out of plastic tubes (more like an accelerator cable for instance) but terminate in an electrical connector.

See picture. Can someone explain what the are?!!

This is a common problem.

I am not sure what you mean by a "problem". These appear to be uninsulated on purpose - are you suggesting that the problem is when the car is assembled they put uninsulated wires here when there should be insulated?

Take a close look at your wires, the insulation that covers the wires is cracking and falling apart.

I am not talking about the wires to the right in the picture, but the two at bottom left that come out of individual black tubes and terminate in a yellow plastic connector. These do not look like they have ever had insulation which is perhaps why they are each housed in a plastic tube. Never seen anything like it before so am curious as to what they are.

I do no think that they are wires that the insulation has failed on.
