I tried searching here, the AMG forums, and the w220 forums but I'm sure I'm not using the right key words. I hope someone will a little experience here can guide me. I'm searching for the thread about upgrading the 2002 w215 head unit with the 2003 one. Anyone know where it is?

I assume you have a 2003 console to replace it with? I don't think you can swap them easily. Could be wrong.

 

Swap is pretty simple as both years use the D2B fiber. (2004 changed to MOST fiber).

The wood console is pretty costly unless you want to fab up something.

Buying a used 03 console would be the thing. I wonder if the 2002 harness plugs fit the newer 03+ dash switches?

 

Snap. Forgot about the 03-05 switches as well. You will need to buy the entire switch banks as they are a complete unit (per side).

The consoles come in a few different flavors deepening on options, etc. that your car has (to provide proper cutout for switch banks).

 

Then my question would be. Do the new type switches mate up to the 2002 harness and plugs?

 

I'm wondering this as well.
