Right signal reflector lamp
I have a 2000 CL500 and the right turn signal reflector bulb is out. The dealer is saying the entire casing, mirror and all must be replaced. This seems a bit extreme for just a bulb!. Anyone know of a way to just change the bulb?
Thanks

If you talking about the side view mirror, your dealer is correct. The housing needs to be replaced as you can not but the LED amber blinker as a separate part.

That's amazing!! So everything the amber bulb goes out it I'm going to have to replace the entire unit just for the bulb. Does that only apply to the 2000 models? Who would you recommend for best prices on that part? Also , I would assume it comes in the correct color when I provide VIN. This is my first time using parts without ordering from dealer.

Is this applicable ?
Heres how you do it. You need to remove the mirror glass,do this by folding in downward as far as it will go.At the top section behind the glass there is a small metal clip, unclip it & remove the glass. Now remove the motor-usually 3 t10 torx screws. Now you can access the 2 t10 torx screws that hold in the signal lens.remove it & replace, done. Hope that helps.

I didn't realize you were talking about a W215 pre mid life facelift (2000-2002) I should have looked at your profile more carefully, my bad.
2003+ needed a whole new housing. For 2000-2002 you used to be able to purchase just the LED unit. I'm assuming that from what your adviser told you maybe this has changed. I would certainly double check that however.
I owned a 2001 before my 2003 and had a rock crack the led strip. At that time I was able to purchase just the clear LED strip for my mirror assembly.
As for housing color (if it comes to that), if it works like other body colored parts (door handles, etc), some popular colors come pre painted fromt he factory. Some colors however do not and you get a part that needs to be painted.
PM me your VIN and I can check EPC for you to see what parts are available, etc.

The amber portion is actually a LED strip which should last a long time baring failure.

talk about resurrecting a dead thread. You can buy the LED lights for the mirror housings on ebay. I changed out mine and it was easy to do. I don't get any codes either.
