Centre Armrest console - Removal ?

Hi, I need some advice on how to get the centre console (the armrest bit between the seats) out. I have started but can't work out how the unit is attached to the floor / driveshaft tunnel ?

I want to remove it to get the shifter out.

Any comments / ideas / pictures would be very much appreciated.

Cheers

This should do it.

I'm not sure on removing the lower section of the console but if it is anything like other benzes then you will probably find a pair of bolts holding the lower console to the upper console and another four bolts holding the lower console to the driveshaft tunnel once you get the wood trim off. Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the response. I already have the wooden centre console out but can't see the bolts you mention. Have you any idea where on the console they are ? I can't work out how to get the central storage compartment out (the one between the seats) .. they could be below that. My next step will be to take the seats out and see if there are any screws / bolts under the carpet.

I haven't actually taken apart a CL/S class center console, but I have taken apart and removed the entire lower center console with the armrest on a C class and an E class, on both of the cars, there are a couple screws roughly behind where the ashtray is, another pair around the shift assembly, and another pair at the back of the console (under the armrest) that all hold the lower center console to the floor. I can only assume that mercedes design consistency also extends to the cl/s classes and that you have screws in similar locations. Pulling the carpet up probably won't get you much farther as if my assumptions hold then all the screws you need should be inside the lower center console, sorry I couldn't be of more direct help.

For future reference

in the lower, larger center console compartment is a “false floor” type carpet. Underneath you will find the last female torx screws. Use a pick to pry up the false floor, be gentle
