need help removing trunk lid liner
hi, trying to access the lock actuator and emergency trunk opener to inspect for any obvious problems, ie. loose connections, disconnected parts. in any event i want to remove the inner liner on the trunk lid. i've done multiple searches and haven't found any detailed info. i'm assuming you have to pull down in various areas of the liner to unclip existing push pull clips, but i don't want to mess anything up.can someone tell me where to pull and what to detach. it's a 2004 cl600. really appreciate your help. probably a simple job if you have proper instructions.

Start by unscrewing the plastic fascia where the close and lock buttons are under the lid. Unsnap the electrical connection and set aside.
Then pull down on the liner.
Then pull down on the liner.

thanks, just removed the liner. everything looked good, but i did find a brown wire that wasn't connected. problem is i couldn't find where to connect it. it appeared to be coming from the emergency trunk release button and that's one of my problems. any idea where to connect this wire? also checked the release mechanism and everything works, except that the key turns and the button on the lock pushes in, but the key will not open the trunk. any clues. could this be the lock mechanism, although all other function work and when i unlock both door i can press the button by the keyhole in the trunk with, or without the key inserted and the trunk opens. dealer said it is likely lock mechanism and quoted $817.00 to fix. way too much for me. any help please. also where does that brown wire connect?
thanks
p.s i do not have the auto open, or auto close option on the car.

I know when I replaced my harness there were a couple of connector that didn't connect to anything and I have the key less entry and auto close features on my car.

okay, i think i narrowed it down to the lock cylinder. everything works except when turning the lock cylinder it does not disengage the locking mechanism when depressing the button. does anyone have info. on replacing the lock cylinder? mine works and turns both ways, but won't engage, or disengage the trunk lock.

Just to make sure, you are turning your metal blade all the way to the LEFT (past the detente) and then while holding it all the way left pushing the lock cylinder upwards and nothing is disengaging ?

that is absolutely what is happening. turning key all the way to left, holding it and pushing lock cylinder upwards and nothing is engaging. even tried turning to right to check if it would lock and didn't engage there either. when the tech came out from the dealer for roadside assistance, he also tried the manual key and verified that the lock did not engage. as i said every other function works, the remote, the door button and if i unlock both doors, i can go to the trunk and push button up on the lock and it will open without the key. only thing the trunk will not do is open, or close with the mechanical key. this scares me because if the puck cracks and i lose that function i may not be able to get into the trunk. dealer wants to replace the whole mechanism for $817.00, but it's only the key that's not working. any help on changing the lock cylinder, or solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. i did spray wd40 in the key hole with no fix. i believe that if the dealer changes the whole mechanism he will still insert my lock cylinder so i can use my existing key and the problem will persist. am i correct on my assumption?
