Tire Blow Out :(
Hey guys,
I am a newer member and recently purchased a 2003 CL55 AMG. Love the car, nothing quite like it IMO. I have had it for 2 weeks when I ran into some trouble. 2 days ago while on the highway headed home from work, I heard a loud bang followed by some jerking in the rear. I pulled over instantly, first thought was ****, ABC but there were no warning lights. (I was only doing 60mph). As i went to look at the passenger side rear tire I saw that the tire had blown up, and tore my rear bumper off.
Where I was amazed is that it wasn't a blow out on the side wall, the weakest part of the tire but actually split in half right down the middle of the tire... weird? These tires are 5 months old, came on the car and even though they are a Fuzion ZR1 I am shocked at how and where it blew up. The tire shop that they were purchased from is trying to say its not a defect but I can't seem to see what else? I hit nothing and I mean nothing on the road. I even looked at all my tires every time i drive to make sure pressure is all good. I will be emailing the manufacture tomorrow. Any advice? Anyone had anything similar? Very frustrated... Just thankful I was not speeding... BTW, I am not sure how to post photos...
