Unknown missing parts
So I bought my cl and the infotainment was non op I got the stereo part working but none of the other stuff does and I know I am missing components the plugs are there but nothing else is but I don't even know what is missing if anyone could take pictures and label the trunk mounted modules all I have is amp and Cd changer I'm also trying to figure out where the park assist controler goes even better would be if someone had a diagram of all the controllers and modules so I could see what's missing what I have etc it's a 2001 Cl500

Do you have the Bose system...you will know because it will say Bose on the front pair of door speakers? Post a pic of what you have and we can help.
|
yes i do sorry i forgot to specify that and the car came factory with all available options
|
Please detail exactly what is still not working ?
Is your stereo and cd changer now working and playing sound normally ? Only the voice control module was back there and it's no longer available |
my audio deos work but i have two coax ends and 3 or 4 parallel port style connectors. also i want to out a phone system back in and have the nav work. i would love to be able to put a more modern phone nav etc but with the d2b and bose combo that seems unlikely. also i wasnt sure if the park assist module was back there as i want to get that working again also.

The factory phone was analog so it won't work and factory nav is useless today
the Bluetooth adapters are about $600 Not worth it in my opinion |
Buy an Android head unit, bypass all the stuff in the boot (trunk) and have a better system than came as standard.
It's what I am doing. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Android-5-...-/281659938598 https://mbworld.org/forums/cl-class-...-question.html |
rather buy this one if you want to keep fiber optic

They are the same...they both require an adapter to allow fo to continue...but only in two channels...not the 5 they come with.

yea might be, only thing you need to make sure is if you have fiber optic amp or not
and if yes, you need the Fiber optic decoder https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...223ae10a89.jpg |
I have been looking into that option and I do have a fiber optic bose amp but from what I can glean that decoder is for MOST based systems and I am pretty sure mine is D2B
|
how to remove command
if you see a wire like this on the back then you have fiber optic https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...3be296be16.jpg |
He won't have fiber optic, 2001 (UK or USA) had a different COMAND system, so his wiring requirements may be slightly different. The conversion to the fiber optic bus was MY2004(UK 2003.)
|
good info. thanks :)

The problem with the Bose system, is the Bose amp...they stop working after some years and repair costs. I was able to remove my complete system, with non working Bose amp, sell it and buy the Android unit and a new amp (not strictly necessary) for the same money.

I stand corrected. From what I read, I understood the earlier W215's had a more conventional setup.
|
I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing any control modules like the park assist or anything else
