Back on the road
The water pump replacement was quite an ordeal. For those unfamiliar, the crank pulley has to be removed to get access to one water pump bolt.
The special tool arrived, but required about an hours worth of grinding to make work. Recommend picking up a new or spare crankshaft damper to test fit the tool after grinding. The used damper I bought was well worth it just for this.
Changed all the hoses, pulleys and belt while I had it all apart.
Not a difficult job. However, I still needed heat to remove the crank pulley bolt. A 4 foot cheater bar only broke the socket. Put a minute of heat with a map torch and the same cheater bar removed the bolt. No extra parts, no leaks, no blood, no only a few curse words.
Many thanks to all the previous posters on this topic. I was able to quickly gain the info I needed. Most of my delay was due to my limited time available to work on the car. Simply been very busy of late, and it is a spare car for now.
An oil leak in the front is the only outstanding issue for now.
