I believe they are all Temic no matter which supplier sells them. Using the updated version is most important.

Thx, but not what I see here:

also, "experience" means that you swapped yours, or have strong information with proof
Temic is OEM, not so sure OEM is always the best

Ok. My experience is that I first had a left side failure and replaced the coils with one I purchased through Rock Auto which were supposedly made by Standard Motor Products. The one I received was labeled Temic with the updated part number. The right side failed about 6 months later. I found a good deal through Auto Zone with a lifetime warranty. The coil I received from them was labeled Temic and had the updated part number. The originals I pulled out of my car were also labeled Temic. Not sure if there are any true options as to manufacturer.

sounds normal as I didn't find
UNITED MOTOR PRODUCTS COP278
UNITED MOTOR PRODUCTS COP279
anywhere else then Rockauto, no picture of that label nowhere, so then means that they just sell Temic's
UNITED MOTOR PRODUCTS COP278 = Temic
UNITED MOTOR PRODUCTS COP279 = Temic
just a company deal

no ?

Guys, don't forget you can sell your old ignition pack on ebay for 100-200 usd each
also, if you don't want to wait, V12icpack buys them from you for 100$
not much, but still 200$ back

are you serious ? Fcpeuro is offering a no questions asked lifetime gurantee and you expect the same price as Rock auto ? Who will not offer that warranty ?

Thats not reasonable . Maybe to ask for pricing similar to autozone or oreilly as they offer lifetime warranty

Very serious, not that I think there is something wrong but...

You must understand something, maybe you never owned a company but let me explain:

I you have a company and you sell a Item for 1400 $
that a another company sells the same item for the lowest price possible, lets say 899$. That last company still makes money, maybe he will buy for 700, that is 199$ benefit.
The first company makes 599$
They might have contracted a insurance on goods which means they pay % of all sales to a insurance company on all lifetime warranty items and the insurance covers all warranty not applicable with products original warranty (Temic probably covers 2 years already)

these are complex insurance algos made by insurance experts but that is how the world runs in 2017

so when I ask him to allign, that was a joke
I just want to show that you have two options

1) you buy 30% cheaper than Fcpeuro and have TEMIC time limited warranty
2) you buy 30% more where you pay for lifetime warranty which is still a good deal as if you buy it from MB or some others you pay that price and get only original warranty

30% extra = lifetime insurance you pay

that is how it should show on the website

Ha, my cost price from the dealer is higher than the Airtex product. The Airtex is likely a reboxed OE unit(all speculation). If I can confirm that the Airtex is OE and source it, the stars will align. Until then I have dropped the price slightly on the Genuine goodness.

I bought mine from the Mercedes dealership for $1100. If you order online from them it's cheaper than over the counter, but you can still pick it up at the parts counter to avoid shipping.

Excellent write up! I have a quick tip too this may have been covered already but could potentially save more money...?!

When fitting new coil packs, fit a new voltage transformer too as apparently when the coils start to fail, it can quickly damage the votage transformer also vice versa fitting new coils packs but using an old voltage transformer can quickly break new coil packs.

I think of it like fitting a new timing belt but leaving the original rollers/tensioners, why would you not worth it?!

Anyway each to their own, eveyone has their own budget i guess but these cars aren't really worth trying to fix on the cheap as it only comes back to bite you later...!

Incidentally i replaced my coils with MB ones but newer part no's, bought online in the UK so saved about 15%.

what do you mean by > " new timing belt " ?
you mean the timing chain ? that is double on M275,
that never breaks and is not to be replaced

A hobby is not about money
unlimited budget
but as it is a hobby, you do it yourself for fun
the limit of what you do yourself is personal

also, maybe you call this cheap-***,
but maybe this article will help people who don't have big budgets

do you have Xentry Das Developper ? no ? so I can call you a cheap-*** too

everybody is someone's cheap-***
