Cl500 Strutmasters conversion not level
Hey All,
I recently did a strutmasters conversion on my 01 cl500 and have driven the car about 700 miles since install. I noticed springs have settled and ride height isnt crazy high anymore. Just one thing i noticed tho is the car seems to have settled lower on the drivers side than the passengers side. Its not heavily noticable on the front but the rear i notice the car is leaning lower on the drivers side. Just wondering if anyone else has had these issues or if i just need to call strutmasters for replacements components. Not hard to swap out so not the worst situation i guess. The car does seem to be more level on different streets but even then it seems to lean alot to one side if im parked on a slight slope. I will try to add a pic later today with hand measurements.

I think that you should take them of and get the pressure mesured, sounds like defective
or directly ask for replacement
or did you forgot a dead body in the trunk driver side ?

LOL! I’m already contacting them to ask for a front shock and spring assembly replacement. Just seems like defective spring is sagging compared to the others that have settled already. I do need to replace the front ball joint on the front drivers side tho. Could that affect ride height at all? I don’t think a lower ball joint affects ride height.

Sadly the mechanic I go to refuses to cut springs. It’s ok tho I don’t mind the taller ride height as the streets in sf are pretty bad.

Here is a pic from the rear. You can see the car is leaning to the drivers side more. I can get a front pic later which shows it even more.

maybe your chassis bend.. sometimes that happens with some jump accidents
ABC would balance that I as invisible I guess
you know how many owners had this car and who ?

car only had 2 previous owners and both took care of the car except maintaining the abc fluid and filters. Pretty common I guess. I did hit a pothole on the front drivers side that was pretty bad but didn’t notice any bent arms or bad bushings. Car still drives ok but needs alignment and a ball joint. Maybe alignment and ball joint might help?

yea then probably not the frame
but the rear is very complicated, if you look in one of my posts, I swappet everything with rubber on the rear axe

Get a yard stick or tape measure , and while on perfectly level ground , measure the distance from the ground to center of fender lip at all 4 corners
the fronts should be close to equal , as should the rear two
also are all four of your tires a matched set ? Mismatched tires are common when someone in replaces just one flat

Well to update people turns out my car was not as good as I thought. Found out at some point the odometer was rolled back and coded to look legit. Not sure how it was done but it was. So I got rid of the car and got a e55. Best decision ever.

these folks solder a module to the EIS (ignition key block)
once that is in place they hook up a odometer with desired mileage
the odometer tries to read from EIS and Trans selector but info is blocked by the blocker module
so odometer stays on what they set it to
other method is replacing all 3 devices from low mileage donor car
only VIN needs to be corrected then

right name is CAN Blocker or Can filter

Well now I know... either way the car started showing signs of multiple failures so it was just time to move on. Short lived but glad I got the e55 now. It’s just a overall better family cruiser. The CL still a great car tho. Just didn’t meet the requirements I needed.
