This was passed on to me by a friend whom is a Mercedes Tech.
"This recall campaign has been initiated because the headlamps of affected CL500 vehicles exceed the photometric limits for high-beam lighting in accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. Approximately 558 vehicles-only some within VIN ranges A000174 to A003510-in the United States are affected by this recall campaign."
Basically, the high beam headlights-for 558 vehicles in this VIN range-are too bright. On affected cars, we are supposed to install a shim in the high beam headlight to aim the high-beam slightly downward, and out of the eyes of potential oncoming cars. Not a serious recall, but one I thought I'd share with you, as some owners will be receiving a notification in the mail soon.

What gets me is that the 2000 CL has Bi-Xenon. For 2001 Mercedes went back to Low Bean Xenons and High bean Halogens. For 2002, Mercdes again went back to Bi-Xenon. Anyone got a pair of Bi-Xenons that they want to see for my 2001 ?
