The best deal is to wait for Discount Tire Direct to have a rebate sale, usually around holidays (they do 6 or 8 times a year). This gives you per-tire prices similar to Tire Rack, but then a $100-160 rebate from that. Here is the last deal (4th of July week) Discount Tire Direct 4th of July rebate
Discount Tire "Direct" is technically different than the local Discount Tire stores, but during these sales the local stores will not only match the sale prices, but also give you an immediate discount equal to the rebate. Don't have to send anything in :-) PLUS, the local stores usually will get you discounts/rebate credit on tire models or sizes not offered on the "Direct" sale.
Discount tire also charges no freight. If you send them to a local Discount Tire store for installation, Discount Tire's installation cost is almost-always cheaper than the "local" installer prices found on Tire Rack. My last install/balance of 4 wheels/tires was $69 total.
PLUS, if your brand is concurrently running a manufacturer's rebate (typically $75 to $100 for 4 tires), you can get that on top of the Discount Tire rebate. It's like a perfect storm :-) Any manufacturer's rebate you can get on Tire Rack you can also get at Discount Tire.
You didn't ask, but I found that the best tires I've ever had on a CL to be the latest ones I got. They were also among the cheapest!! $143 plus $43 shipping for 4. Amazing tire for everyday use. BFGoodrich g-Force Comp 2 A/S 245/40ZR19

Discount Tire is having a Labor Day sale, 10% to 20% off. This is different - it's for the LOCAL stores and includes all brands and sizes. Local deal, so no shipping. Bridgestone has $70 rebate going now, also General ($100) and Goodyear ($80) (others?).
