Roof racks?
Any suggestions as to what roof racks fit and are sturdy, low profile, and quiet for a CL55?
Found after buying the car that the rear seats don't fold down, so my surfboard won't fit in the car. (hey, I live in Southern California, I need to get into the water every now and then.)
Surfboards are light, I don't want to mar the paint with soft racks, what would work for this kind of thing? Am I correct in assuming that I can easily attach/remove them as needed?
Does MB use some standard fitting/size, or is it specific to each model (I've never had to use roof racks before, as you can hear).

Can’t imagine putting a roof rack on a CL 55. Sacrilege! Have you tried inside? If you fold the passenger seat down you have about 8 feet from the rear shelf to the passenger wheel well.

along these lines , because you can put the front and rear window down , you can put it on the rear shelf and recline the passengers seat , with the Tip sticking out of the front side window . I’ve carried 8 foot lumber this way

mercedes offered a custom rack when the car was new
but it cost $1000 and is out of production and impossible
to find. Contact Thule, they made the custom mounts for Mercedes
or perhaps Yakima is another supplier
