2002 cl500
2002 cl500 key card/bad fob

Ok I'm sure there are hundreds of discussions on this topic. So I recently purchased a 2002 cl500. The car has been sitting for at least 9 months . Battery was dead and some of the windows were slightly open so I'm sure some water got in this car. So I put a new battery in the car, and instantly a message pops up saying key card ,with a picture of a key in the middle of the screen. I previously owned a 2000 cl500 and have never seen this before. I Youtubed and Google so I end up taking the fob apart and cleaning it. Still the car wont start Nd key wont even turn. Someone please help

Has nothing to do with the key card
first check fuses under front passenger carpet
they are large car stereo type fuses in a black plastic case.
this is the cheapest possible fix

if that doesn’t fix it you need to buy the rear sam under rear seat
get the part number from yours and buy the same part number on eBay

if that doesn’t fix it you’ll need to buy four parts from the same donor car - a key, ignition switch , shifter and ecu. They must all come from the same donor car as a matched set as they are only programmed to work together . You can’t just change one part .there are matched sets on eBay for about $360. Again buy the same part number as your ecu.
