Hydraulic fluid leak

Before I start - I am no mechanic! There is a hydraulic fluid leak from the roof of my CLK just to the left of the rear view mirror and is now dripping through the head lining. I have pulled the plastic cover away as far as I can to have a look and I see dripping of fluid from the mechanism in there! The next step is to remove the plastic cover completely. I will need to open the roof partly to do this. However, I don't want to get stuck with a open roof that will not close. The pump fluid in the boot is half full at the moment. I am waiting for the delivery of some fluid to top it up before I do anything else. Any ideas of how to fix this - easy, hard, costly?
