Question 2004 cl600 stuck in park.

hi, shifter is stuck in park. brake lights are working. car starts up so i believe this eliminates the ignition switch as being the problem. we have used a rubber mallet and pounded on the top of the shift handle with ignition on and foot on brake and also with . car running and the shift lever will not release. we removed the bevel that shows the various shift settings, ie. park neutral drive, etc. and tried putting a small screwdriver down the space and trying many positions and angles to try and find the lever that releases the neutral safety switch without any success. i know that some of you were able to cut the lever for the neutral safety switch without removing the console.can you please explain the way to do this. my mechanic has all types of grinding tools and cutting tools and is certified. your help would be greatly appreciated. please respond a.s.a.p. since this is my only car and daily driver.
thank you for any help and advice.
the best, biker349

The car could use a secondary brake sensor or circuit for the shift interlock. Worth checking the codes and looking at the live data from the transmission, should let you know if it's commanding the interlock solenoid or not.

For those who have the shifter electronics faulty
your used replacement shifter has to be virginized before installation then adapted with xentry

remember some MB modules need to be adapted online in some cases and that you can not do this with chinese junk installations
think about it before you try to safe 200$ that is the amount MB will charge you each time for this
just ask me
