Question windshield washer level sensor

i have a 2004 mercedes cl600 and even though the windshield washer reservoir is full and i have a brand new level sensor installed i still get a check windshield washer fluid level every time i start, or shut the car off. i thought that maybe there is something wrong with my existing wiring, so i purchased a used windshield level sensor that included 4 inch lengths of wiring. i believed that is i connected the two lengths of wire together and connected it to my level sensor that it would read full all the time and i could refill the reservoir myself as needed. makes sense to me..problem i still get a check windshield wiper reservoir message everytime i start, or stop the car. i can't understand why this is still happening. anyone have any ideas, or suggestions.
thank you for any and all replies.

Tying the wires together probably represents too much resistance and will cause faults

usually to bypass sensors you should ohm test the resistance of the wiper fluid sensor, and then install a similar rated resistor across the wires

ctravis, thank you for your quick knowledgeable response. can you tell me where to get the resistor to put across the wires. and if possible what the resistor rating should be. i believe all mercedes level sensors are the same, for sure all cl class level sensors are the same.
again, than you and the best to you.

Get a multi pack of a bunch of resistor values, that way you can change the rating of the alternative setup if it doesn’t work at first

have you checked the fuses for the aforementioned system?

I just remembered some useful information

the instrument cluster warnings on these cars can be misleading

for example, an unplugged or broken radiator fan shows up as a “check coolant” message

so your problem may not be the level sensor or the fluid level, it could be a disconnected sprayer motor for example
