W215 M275 - Vacuum Lines

Hey Guys,
i am doing quiet a lot of work to our CL. I have the top of the engine management taken out and I have all of the vacuum lines in front of me. I was thinking to replace them but I am facing a dillema. What size of the silicon hoses should I choose. I am referring to the internal diameter. The plastic lines I think are about 3mm and they are using connector adapters to fit into the diverter valves and intake etc. Each connector on the sensors or intake is 6mm. So the question is - what size of the vacuum lines to use. Does it really matter? Should I use smaller one as ODM and use adapters - it makes things a lot more complicated.

I know a lot of people have swapped them for silicon as they are a lot more durable
