ABC pulsation damper is not the black sphere
moaning - MBWorld.org Forums
There are tons of threads and even opportunities to buy the pulsation damper from various places all citing this as the black sphere near the front right wheel.
For other cars on systems such as ABS you would normally call something looking like that an 'accumulator'. So I'm pretty sure my original understanding of that part is correct and all the other references to it as a pulsation damper are incorrect.
My car still makes the humming sound it did originally... so replacing the 'accumulator' has made no difference.
What I should've replaced was the pulsation damper which looks completely different and is mounted to the pump. There have been references to a pulsation damper mounted on the pump on some threads but I believe all cars have both parts and people are still confusing the two due to all the incorrect information circulating out there.
This is an image of a pulsation damper. Does anyone know of a rebuild kit or ever heard of anybody fixing one? They're quite expensive to buy off eBay.
When the larger accumulator fail, they are diagnosed by the ABC visit workshop light coming on whenever you drive over a larger bump (speed bump).
When the pressure accumulator fails, hissing sounds are not uncommon. I don't know of any ABC system malfunction caused by the pressure accumulator that fails, it could be that the pressure fluctuates a lot but I'm not sure.
The image that you've posted above, is the pulsation damper that is connected directly to the ABC pump. https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/e...78/68r/32/290/
It's the part connected to hose #150 in the M113 diagram, near the ABC pump
Indeed, when I had a droning I replaced the black sphere, pulsation damper, to cure the noise.
