Would You Cut Your Baby?
This weekend I was at the local wheel shop getting new shoes for my GS300. Usually, I watch for what other people are getting but I forgot my camera.
There was a guy there putting 22 inch wheels on his brand new CL. To make them fit, the technician used a powersaw to cut the bolt that holds the suspension arms together. Usually, I believe...to each his own. But every slice of that saw made me cringe. I am a car enthusuast and believe in taking care of the car because it can't take care of itself. I just felt this hurt in my belly watching this. Why couldn't the guy put 21's on? Still big with lots of bling. Why cut into your new car? I don't know. Maybe I'm too dramatic. What do you guys think?
Would you cut your baby for big wheels?

No, I would not. The only reason I go with 20's is because they fill the wheel well space.....no bigger is needed. On the 6 series, I can see where 22's may be needed to do what a 20 inch rim does on the SL. However, putting a 21 inch on the SL or 22 on the CL is overkill....especially when cutting the fender has to be done. Big negative when it comes time to sell the car.

hell yeah dude! anyone can bolt stuff on! The true enthusiest is not afraid to pick up a torch, plamsa cutter, welder, and if needs be a saw to obatin their desired results. Granted....one should be qualified to use those tools first.

ok..poor choice of words...the point i was trying to make is that while alot of people flame for "cutting into a perfectly good car" it takes a lot of confidence and ***** to take a potentially destructive tool to an investment such as a mercedes in the name of making it your own and I applaud those with those *****! That is all i am saying
