Delay from port

My dealer informed me my car was at the port in Jacksonville on 2/16. As of today 2/26 they are still waiting for the car to be released.

Does it normally take this long? I hope they are not trying to fix damage that occurred in shipping.

Cars can sit at port for 2 wks for various mysterious reasons....time to unload boat, customs, missing iPod integr kits, etc etc.....and trucks from port to dealers can take several days to make even a <400mi trek to dealer...and process always seems more delayed when one is eagerly awaiting the car

But would def ask dealer to certify car didn't incur damage in-shipping/at port (and do own inspec) of car before taking deliv....if one is a repeat cust of any reputable MB dealer, it's likely dealer will be up-front re: any issues, rather than risking relationship w/a repeat cust of CL-caliber cars....

The above link will take you to a discussion we had last summer regarding someone who was awaiting his S550, and maybe it will shed some light on your situation.

I am begining to rethink my desire for this car. I just received a call from the dealer. The car is still at the port after 3 weeks awaiting a software modification. The software won't be available for another couple of weeks.

They are not sure which package is causing the problem P1, P2 or Distronic Plus.

My car is depreciating in a parking lot.

Very frustrating

Definitely frustrating situation.....

Typically I spec/get/trade-in 2-3 new cars/yr (am an addict )....and often face unexpected delays on new cars I most want....

Have had CL550; now have CL600; and am eagerly awaiting CL63 030.....after some 6K mis in past 3mos, my view is CL is best-engineered car in world today, price no object.....just don't know of any car w/same combination of safety/performance/comfort/utility/quality of materials/interior ergonomics&elegant design, etc.....and I own/have owned/have extensively driven any poss competitors....

Transportation delays/delays on options/software update delays happen w/all car brands/models, esp w/new models and tech-rich models.....so doubt it's a MB/CL-specific issue.....ask any of the guys who managed to get early 599/997TT Tips re: the delays they suffered.....

Nope....Per the dealership it is still at the port.

Either they dropped the car or the software upgrade must be VERY important. The dealership has had no deliveries of any CL's.

They say it could be released any day but to not expect it till April...

The car has been at Jacksonville since February 16, and now in the middle of March, your dealer is telling you to wait until April ? My guess is your dealer sold your car to someone else and is waiting for the replacement to arrive. Call MBUSA and request that they get involved.

Yep been at the port since mid Feb. I believe you may be correct. They sold the car to someone willing to pay a premium to have it now.

You might be right, I'd be pissed if they did that to me, after all that long wait!!!

that may be true if your color scheme/option list is common
