I picked up my new CL 550 last week. Have done about 40 miles in total driving very conservatively but I have used almost a quarter tank of gas.

I don't expect to get 30 mpg but I hope I get more than 160 miles per tank.

Other experiences with gas mileage?

It gets better once the engine is broken in. Try driving on the highway at a constant speed (cruise control) and it should be around 25+ mpg. Our S550 which is a boat got 30.5~ on a long *** trip.

Hi Joe,

In LA freeway traffic I typically get 19-22 miles. On open roads (and driving sane) I get 24. I do notice that the gas needle appears to move quickly off the Full mark. In all cases, I get over 300 miles to the tank.

In my CLS63, I have now been averaging 230 miles per tank. This is an even mix between freeway and city driving.

I have noticed big differences in these cars in fuel economy from when they are new to when they get a few thousand miles. Get it broken in good and then start looking at the mileage. Until then, just enjoy the car. Congrats on a great choice.

Don't think I've gotten over 22 mpg in my CL 550. I have sort of a lead foot though, which is why usually I probably have below 15 mpg day in day out.

I find myself filling up on gas every couple days. Can't imagine how much more gas I'd use if I had a CL65!!
