CL550 German Port
"Your car is not `produced not shipped' It is at the Port. I will know later this week if it is on the 5/14 Baltimore boat or the 5/20 Baltimore Boat. I feel confident that I will have the car this month. Your car is marked as a `priority sold' customer car".
So, my MB friends in crime, my baby will arrive sooner than June, which was the date last given me by my rep
. MB Financial delivered a bit of big news. To wit: The deletion of the “value added” lease that was previously available. This is the program that allows dealers to use the 24 month residual value with a 27 month term. This program is no longer available so dealers/buyers have to do a 24 or 36 month lease, 27 is no longer an option. Any opinions out there about this move? I would be interested in any and all comments. I'll continue to keep you all posted.

On the lease change, key ques is MF and resid of 24 mos lease....I suspect it's a minor diffce vs 27 mos....have always leased cars and traded-in every 6-12 mos; given diffic of precisely timing arrival of next new car, doubt many can cleanly move from last day of lease of one car into latest/greatest, new car anyway.....
Doubt one wants to keep any car for 36 mos....too many interesting new tech advances every yr; not sure 36 mos is all that much cheaper than 24 mos when considering mtce costs, etc....and not sure what is decay curve of airbags/brakes, etc when assessing safety of driving a >2yr old car w/25K+ mis vs refreshing the fleet every 2 yrs w/a brand new, latest-tech car w/latest factory-spec systems and most debugged hardware/software.....
BTW, my suspicion is MB Credit is increasingly offering mfr-subsidized, fairly-priced 2 yr leases to move units, given the poor deprec of MBs of past 5 yrs (note few/if any banks will write 2 yr leases on MBs for similar terms; and MB Credit didn't offer cheap 2 yr leases until past yr or so)....in BevHills/SF Peninsula, '07 S65s are suddenly rather popular....and have heard 90% of these are 2 yr leases.....making them not particularly expensive, esp given how early we are in the new S/CL product cycle.....and given that S-Class sales are already down 20% vs a yr ago, I suspect cheap 2 yr leases on S/CL are here to stay....
. I will be taking pics to post here ASAP.
I have a new lens for my Canon and I can't wait to take lots of pics to post! I'll continue to keep Forum members posted. Now, if I can keep from getting too excited and stroking out everything will be perfect! MJH
