cl550 or sl550

Contemplating between new cl550 with sport package or new sl550.
Love both aesthetically. Would miss the convertable in the summer months.
Wouldn't miss it on snow days though. Thoughts??

New S Coupe (new naming scheme for CL) arrives in Spring '10 as a MY11 with all the mid-cycle tech/aesthetic updates of MY10 S-Class

SL is fairly dated tech despite its facelifts (MY07 and MY09); would expect all-new-tech SL in ?late '10 or so

Suspect any non-4Matic MB on proper winter tires is fine for winter commuting in NYC or Chicago (many back East commute with AMGs w/winter tires w/o issues); and cars non-regularly driven (e.g., mothballed for Winter and/or wkdays) seem to have more glitches of disuse (flat spots in tires, ABC problems, decaying drivetrain fluids, etc etc)

CL 500 (550)
All-new SL is expected in mid 2012 (source is Harman-Kardon who are assigned for supplying the telematics for new SL and SLK).

Sounds late to me though, having in mind how old the SL actually is and that sales of the final facelift aren't good at all (although I think it's good looking).

Regarding the original post: CL and SL are both Mercs and share the same engine, but are totally different IMO. If you really want a convertible in summer, I'd consider a Porsche 997 4WD convertible. A nice all-season car.

Being slightly biased, I would get the CL. Stylistically I think it is more harmonious. The SLs are more common given they came out over 6 years ago. The new CL (or S-class coupe) is slighly less prevalent. Or wait for the next gen SL.

I would go for the CL, the SL has been around for ages and the interior is still old school whereas the CL is like driving a two door S-class.. It may not have the convertable, but it has a bad *** sun roof

And if you're a tall guy like me, u wont fit as well in the SL as you would in the CL.. Dont think im being biast, I own both cars but i like driving the CL more...
