CL63 or CL550 (W216) ?? Need Advice
Hi All,
I am trying to decide between a 2012 CL550 (Designo, Prem2, AMG Sport Pkg) or a 2012 CL63 AMG (Prem2)
I drove the CL550 and it seemed more than adequate in the power dept. and I kind of liked the Lux plus Power combo. and really like the idea of having 4matic.
Driving the CL63 today, the CL63 looks much cooler to me, and sounds amazing, I have had a couple of V12 Ferraris and am used to the having a car with decent rumble, and really like it over the CL550.
This will not be a primary driver and I already have an SUV for Snow and Ice.
Both are CPO so will be under warranty and I am sure I'll extend.
At the end of the day, I am weighing 2 wheel drive and 4matic, and am concerned the CL63 could get unwieldy on anything other than dry and warm pavement. (Please let me know if this is true.)
Any other pros and cons?
Price is close enough not to make a difference. Any input would be appreciated.

You can have the 550 engine remapped to be as powerful as the 63. The 63 is just a tarted up 550 but keep in mind unless you have a Designo package you will still get a MB Tex interior ( all except for the seats and arm rests). The Designo CL 550 is the only way to go for sure, with the Designo you get a full leather interior with the 600 seat sew pattern. A much better choice, also cheaper to repair. Trust me you wont see any issues for many, many years to come with the 550 plus you get the 4 wheel drive. You will however had to decide if you like Airmatic suspension over ABC suspension. The ABC is a much more expensive system and more prone to problems but you do get better ride and handling. However for your needs and desires the 550 is the way to go. They have the 11-14 models pretty much bullet proof. I would suggest the Designo 550 over the 63. That is my two cents worth and I think in the long run you will agree.
