CL550 compared to CLS550
I currently drive a 2012 CLS550 and I like it a lot. I have always wanted a CL550. I am considering purchasing a 2013 or a 2014 with very low miles (I found a couple that are still new). I fear that once I purchase a 2 or 3 year old vehicle it would immediately be worth only $70k or less.
With this in mind, I have 2 questions:
1) This car seems to depreciate a lot more than most other cars. Has that been your experience?
2) I took a CL550 for a very quick test drive and I like it and it seems marginally better than my CLS550. My drive might have been too quick to adequately judge the merits of the CL550. Why do you think that the CL550 is significantly better than an E class or a CLS class?
Thank you.

The CLS550 is OVERWHELMINGLY better than a E class. I've driven , briefly, a CLS550 and found it worth buying. I've never driven a E class mostly because I find it homely although the E COUPE looks worth giving it a drive (a 400 or 550 coupe, not the eco engine one).
The only thing about my CL550 that I wish was different, is it does not have the ABC but is aromatic.
The CL is better than a CLS in that it is a REAL COUPE......as in NO damned 'B' pillar and your butt does not hit the 'B' pillar entering and exiting. Of the Mercedes cars, if I didn't own a CL, I'd own either another SL or a CLS.
The CLS is a darn good looking car and matches the CL in 0-60 and 1/4 mile pretty close.

If you have to ask the, you have no business owning a CL.
Find a full Designo from 11-14 with a warranty and you will be more than pleased you made the huge leap forward.
I don't think you gave yourself enough time to settle in and get to know the car. Right now you can find a CL500 between 45K-65K. So, most of the major depreciation is done.
