2008 CL550 Command problem PLEASE HELP
Sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong section guys. This is my first post.
I have a 2008 CL550. My iPod cable inside my glove compartment was bad. My diesel mechanic decided to cut the cable and re-wire the small wires to fix it for me. He cut the cable forgetting the car was on. The screen went off and came right back on after shorting out. Now my radio and cd changer works but the command doesn’t detect the car being on. It turns off after 15-20 min of driving and I have to manually turn it off and on every time. My AC setting do not change on my screen and I can not save any of the car settings on the system. Rear view camera is not working. Took the car to Mercedes for a diagnostic and they gave me a $12000 estimate for a defective command. I bought a used command but I’m having the same issue. Which means the command was not the problem. I’ve taken the car to two different mechanics and they can not figure it out. All fuses are good and we have disconnected the batteries to try to reset it and keep having the same problem. Please help..

What's a diesel mechanic? Simply have him fix it if he's the one who messed it up.
That being said, it sounds like a CAN bus issue between the Comand and the rest of the car. You would need the wiring diagrams and you would have to try to make an educated guess as to what is messed up, based on where and how the Comand interfaces with the rest of the car to get signals like AC status and rear camera. If I have some time later I'll see if I can find the diagrams in SDS.

Ok, I pulled the diagrams (some of them). Do your steering wheel controls work (to change radio stations etc) and do you see any of the comand info in the instrument cluster (radio/nav)?
