Question re Wheels
Hello,
Just joined the forum - just acquired a stunning CL500 4.7 Blueefficieny / 2011 37500 miles only, my first Mercedes after owning many BMWs. Its a different league. A few little cosmetic things to sort, the odd stone chip and one of the alloys is slightly scuffed, otherwise its like a new car, feel very blessed.
So my question is a little strange, the car has the AMG package hence 20 inch dual spoke alloys. I would like to change them for 19 inch to make the ride even more comfortable, I am not really into the whole big alloys thing and love the understated look of this car and the power that lurks beneath.
Anyone here changed down wheel size ? I know this wont be cheap...

Yes, and is there any such thing as a 2011 CL500?
This is also my first MB after owning Honda's most of my life. I'm not into oversize rims either although I must admit they look good. I've run the 19" OEM on my 2009 CL550 for the past year and had to replace both front tires due to bubbles in the sidewalls after hard hits on these New England winter roads. I know a guy that has a set of the OEM 18" rims for this car and am thinking about buying them and mounting a set of snows for next winter. Probably going to an aftermarket 19" forged set like Vertini or Vossen from a local shop for summer performance tires. I'm scared to go 20" or larger. Looking for that perfect compromise of looks, durability, ride quality (including quiet) and handling.

I'm not a great lover of rubber band tyres either and wouldn't have them by choice. I have the same problems
