lose of power to my command screen and cd/dvd player

Hey I’m looking for some information on how I could fix this issue I’m having.I have a 2008 cl63 amg and have no power to my radio/ no sound This all started a few months ago When my radio screen would turn on and off occasionally. Then one day it just stoped working. I asked a few people and keeping getting mixed answers. I’m just wondering if anyone knows where I should start first

I had a friend with a CL550 that had similar issues. The Mercedes dealership quoted him $5K to replace the Command unit with a new one. He didn't feel like spending that much and ended up just trading in the car. The car was fixed and then sold to a used car dealership at an auction. I felt bad for him because I think replacing the Command unit with a used one on eBay would have fixed the issue. They're about $400-700 on eBay. Part number is 2168204185. The part number is different from the sedan so keep that in mind if you decide to get one. I've actually taken it out the Command unit to install an aftermarket Android headunit and it's not bad. From memory, it was just 4 Torx screws that held it to the dash. Hardest part for me was just removing the wood dash paneling to access the command unit.

Here's one for sale.

Pictures after I got the wood panel taken out. You can see where the Command unit rests.

This doesn't answer your question but there are Android kits that are $500-$600. I've seen them on eBay and there's many videos on Youtube on installation.

Has anyone here replaced a command unit with success? Dealer just told me mine needs to be replaced and they quoted me 9K. I AM NOT doing that. They even told me go aftermarket and don't pay that much. But he also told me the command unit is a one time use so I couldn't get one used. Anyone have any luck with a used one and no issues ??

$9000?!? That is insane. I just looked up the part...you must have an 03 or 04? You might want to look at sourcing the part elsewhere. There are a few MB dealers online that sell parts for a substantial discount. Like I just checked MB Covington, and they sell the Command Unit for $5150 instead of $7750. Still insane, though.

I have a 2010 CL550, I haven't checked other sources yet. I wanted to check with this forum first because I know most people here know more than the dealers about our cars. And $5150 is still a lot for this part.

I can't find your part at the MB parts website...I can find every other year, so I must be missing it. You could have your Command unit rebuilt. There are a few companies out there that do this service. You could try Hi-Tech Electronics Service in CA.
