INSURANCE CLAIM: Replacing rear windsheild 560SEC - $3000-4000 to repair rust and rep
Hi all, my rear windshield cracked while driving last year (1987 560sec) - I live in Canada
I opened up a claim with insurance (AVIVA) and got a few quotes which were around $3200 CAD / $2300 USD for parts and labor (see work order attached)
I was told by the the shop that the rear seats have to come out and its about 5-6 hours or labor so my insurance company had to increase how much they would pay as they only approved 2 hours or labor at first but then accepted the full labor cost once they saw the pictures of the car with rear seats and parcel shelf removed etc.
The car has minimal rust on the body but I guess there's rust hiding in the cracks
Now that the shop removed the windshield - the shop has emailed me saying its going to cost another $1000 to repair that area which is rusted and where the windshield sits
Bringing my total up to $4150 CAD or $3000 USD
Do you guys think this is something the insurance company should cover or would it be my problem to pay it?
Is the shop just taking me for a ride now that they've got the car and can quote me as they please?
Just wondering what options I have before deciding what to do... I'm kind of at the mercy of the shop / insurance company it seems
