Speedo zero, not shifting and abs/esp warning

Hi, this may have been posted before and I have googled other threads, but not exactly the same.

My issues are I have an intermittent ABS / ESP warning light, which is now prety much permanent.
I did make a massive cockup by putting a new battery in the rong way, which I have had checked at the garage and they have checked all fuses and replaced the large 150amp fuse which I think has protected the ecu etc as the car runs fine, except...
Now the speedo is reading zero and the gears wont shift, its like its in a limp home mode.

I see other threads suggesting tcu connection and wheel speed sensors, but are they the right place to start?

The garage has gone as far as I can afford to, without going deeper into control module checking and getting in another specialist to do that, so in the meantime I'm googling to see what I can turn up.
