Workshop manual CL 500 C216, S Class W221
Can anyone recommend a workshop/Haynes type manual to buy for my 2009 CL500 or any merc with the 5.5L M273 E55 engine?
There seem to be some dodgy looking offerings on the web, involving having to set up virtual machines on your computer.
In particular at the moment I need to replace my alternator or at least the regulator in it.
Thanks

Mercedes workshop manuals are all software based.

Mercedes--along with several other manufacturers--provides access to online service information via subscription. This is at the discretion of the country distributor, and MBUSA does.
The Mercedes system is called WIS for workshop information system. (Same initials work for German). Last I looked the cost was something like $75 for a 24-hour subscription. There are other plans, and the year subscription an independent workshop would purchase is around $20,000. In the USA it's law the manufacturer must supply this information. You can download a lot in 24 hours but with more experience at the forum you'll note several posters have access and will post copies of individual procedures here. It's usually, several procedures as there is hardly a procedure that doesn't include a hyperlink to another one. KONIGSTIGER is the name of the guy for W221 ... which of course is pretty much same as C216 (the 2 door S Class).
Find WIS subscription information at startekinfo.com
Also at that location is EPC--electronic parts catalog--which of course is the best because it provides answers according to your VIN. Subscription included with WIS subscription I think.
Any availability of WIS or EPC on eBay is pirated and technically illegal and unquestionably theft.
