CL 63 AMG
Hello friends,
I'm new here so excited about the forum. Pretty sure I can learn a lot from all.
Have a question if someone can help me
I recently acquired about purchasing a below 10K miles CL 63.Its a 2012 model with M157 engine. I'm not sure what to look for before it breaks down. Will it break down or not and I just don't know . I think the car is beautiful piece of machinery. But not sure if its a smart buy or not considering its age. This stretched timing chain issue and I wonder how many cars were affected by this. Is there any preventive maintenance work besides changing the side chain or that won't be necessary. Is this a bad engine or people who have experienced this had bad previous owners to the cars?
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thank you guys

Check out Youtube as well for videos on the M157 engine. Plenty of videos on there which talk about the pain points etc. Expensive car to maintain if you dont show it the TLC it deserves.
LegitStreetCars on Youtube explained on a video that the timing chains for Mercs are usually bulletproof. Check out his CL65 videos.
Good luck
