Gearbox issue withnesp and abs inoperative

Hi looking for a second opinion. Taken my cl500 to a so called mb specialist and they charges me 2k to replace a faulty valve control body. Prior to this car would intermittently give abs and esp inoperative signs as well as park assist unavailable. One day it drove smooth and effortless and a few days later these lights came up and car even went in to a gearbox limp mode and wouldn't come out of 3rd. After clearing codes it was back to moving nicely again. What also keeps happening is the car keeps thinking it is moving when it isn't. So I cannot engage reverse or park. The valve control body fix did not work and now they're suggesting that the gearbox has a mechanical fault which is leading to an output sensor fault and so communicating that the car is moving when it isn't. How does all this sound to you guys who know your stuff?
