Is it possible to upgrade an M273? What do you think?
With the sky high compression ratio, going to forced induction is not a good idea. Keeping it NA normally means heads and cam. Point me to a source for upgrades...don't think there is one.
About the most you can do is exhaust so you can hear it (and it does sound great uncorked).
If you think about it, the M273 is comparable (a little less HP but more torque) than the famous 4.9 in the E39 M5 that everyone was gaga over 20 yrs ago. It's also way more reliable and less fussy , while using a lot less gas. It's a great motor and I love driving our SL every chance I get. But I accept that this is not an LS or B58 . There's basically zero aftermarket support for it and that's OK. I didn't buy it to hot rod it and I am sorry if you did.

I even found some mention of a kleeman supercharger kit. But I will bet any amount of money that it would be cheaper (and just as fast) to just buy a Benz with a more powerful motor. Like the M113k or M156 for the older cars, or M278/M157 on the newer side.
