Another option:
Get the pieces removed and send them to a body shop to have a black candy layed over the wood. One coat will make a tad darker, another coat will make it darker than that, and so on.
At most, $1000, including R & R.

I changed the wood in my SL and it cost me $1900. The wood retails for $2600, I paid $1600 for it and the install was $300.
The CLS has more wood and would require much more time for removal.
Id say labor alone would be $1000... and $500 to sand and repaint. Which still has to be way cheaper than buying the wood and swapping it.
I dont know what MB was thinking with that flat wood, it looks like cheap plastic. The dark shiny wood gives the interior a much richer feeling.

Ummm.... I think he is asking about a CL not a CLS being this is the CL forum....
I am not sure how good an idea it is to refinish.... I have seen this attempted several times, and it has not come out well. It is not easy to do.
Out of curiosity, what color do you have and what do you want to change it to?

I just did exactly this on a Cadillac Escalade. My body shop charged me less than $1000 and trust me when I say the qualitywas perfect.
