Poser?

Poser?
Question... is someone a poser if he debages his car... yet gets a personalized license plate that has the top of the line model's name. For example, I have seen a CL (debaged) with what looks like those stock polished CL600 wheels, without the AMG body kit and with the simple license plate "CL65". I personally think that constitutes "posing". Am I being overly sensitive thinking that guy has "devalued" his CL by trying to give the impression that it is something that it truly is not?

Yup, sounds like one to me. If you just debadge a car for the reason of liking the clean look, that's fine. If you add some CL600 wheels, that's fine because maybe the guy likes the way they look. But CL65 plates? No.
And I still want to supercharge my S430 someday and LEAVE the stock 16" rims and S430 badging on. Sleepa.

Thats some funny ****. Did you actually see such a car? If so I think its more "Loser" than "Poser".
Thinking about getting a plate myself that says "F430"... chix won't know the difference anyway... hehe

I actually did see it in Bethesda, MD last week. I was walking with my friend (he knows the basics about cars but not an expert). I pointed out how ridiculous it was. He started questioning if in fact the car was a CL65. I told him it was not and that he should trust me... I know a CL65 when I see one. He was dumfounded...in his words:
"Why would someone get that license plate if they didn't have a CL65? Are you sure?"
Yes I am sure... but I really can't understand why someone would have a perfectly good CL500/600 and try to pass it off as a CL65. All it tells me is that the person can barely afford the CL but couldn't afford what they really wanted.

Sorry to say, I see this crap alot in NJ. Not even debadge, but rebadge. Here's what I've seen thus far:
S430 posing as S55 <---Some money was spent on this one.
CL500 posing as CL600
S320 posing as S500
CLK320 posing as CLK55
Just keep it real.
