Internet Scam
I recently replaced the stock wheels and tires on my '03 CL55. I ran an ad for them in the Recycler here in L.A., both internet and the paper.
Since the start of the ad, I've been getting an email inquiry a day, all of which are hoaxes. The inquiries follow the same pattern: they offer to pay your asking price without question; they want to send you a money order for significantly more than the asking price; their "agent" will pick up the wheels and ship them; you are expected to give the agent the difference between the amount of the money order and your asking price.
I'm sure some of you are aware of this hoax, but I just wanted to spread the word. Had I not read about it previously on another forum, I wouldn't have know.
BTW If anyone is interested in the wheels, send me a p.m. I replaced them with 19" BBS RS-GT and Michelin PS-2's. I purchased the wheels, tires and install from Brabus. They rolled the fenders as well. Their price was suprisingly competitive.
