May have found 'the' car! CL55
Hey Guys- I just found an 03 with 21k miles with all the right options (Keyless GO, Parktronics, Distronics etc) It's a 2 owner car. I need some help deciphering something. According to the guy selling it, it used to belong to his brother-in-law and was sold to him a year ago. He says that the car has been lowered with 'brackets'! has no clue what brand or any additional info
. He also says that the Brother had "something" past the Cats removed in order to have better sound and breathe better. Does anyone know what these brackets are and do they effect anything with the sport / normal suspension settings? also, any thoughts about what is behind the Cats (other than the muffler) that could be removed to improve power or sound? I see the car on Saturday and need to be prep'd with the with the right questions.
BTW- he's asking for $65k which seems to be about 10-15 high depending on who you talk to.

The brackets are shortened suspension height sensors that trick the electronic suspension into thinking it is sitting higher than it is. Therefore the computer calls for it to lower.
There are some drawbacks to this system. The best way to accomplish lowering is via an electronic module like the Renntech, Kleemann, Brabus, etc. systems.
If you search the E55 forum there has been a lot of talk lately about the different methods of lowering and different modules.

The good news is that they can't void a claim for a bad supercharger due to the "brackets".
