AMG Kit on CL600 vs CL63

Looking at all the 07 CL600 has to offer vs the CL63 seems the 600 wins hands down. Just the torque and mod options alone IMHO put it well above the 63 except for one thing.... the visuals. There is just no way I can live with the look of the stock CL body. I was on the fence to start with about the CL63 looks but the interior won me over where I would accept the AMG version exterior. And shelling out another 50+k for the future "65" version is out of the question.

What to do?

Well I'm sure the 63 could handle itself on the road.

I sure do love the CLS63 look both inside and out.

MB Canada offers the CL550 with a sport package. I think it includes the AMG skirts and 20" spoke wheels. It is an extra $7000.00 Cdn. I am sure they will offer the same for the CL600. Likely the same in the USA?

That sounds rather strange? The AMG kit definitely is an option on the CL600.

Mind you that the AMG kit for non-AMG vehicles is a bit more discrete than the actual AMG vehicles. Not that it's a bad thing, just so you know.

...........if you sell the new Cl600 with an AMG kit, no one will buy a CL63. They plan on selling the CL63 primarily based on looks.

I'm pretty sure your dealership is BSing you. Rule #1 is that, with the exception of Vadim, whom I'd definitely ask about this, dealers know absolutely jack about 90% of the cars they sell. Rule #2 is that they'll tell you anything to get you to buy the damn car.

Obviously their first allocation doesn't include cars with the AMG kit. I promise you that it will be available, just give it some time and don't jump the gun and buy a car you're not 100% psyched about.
6.2 liter NA V8 vs. 5.5 liter V12TT? NO COMPARISON.

MBUSA does not sell the AMG kit for the S600 either. This is a marketing decision and was confirmed by the AMG product manager on a Private Lounge chat. The "justifcation" was that the S600 is sold fully equipped with no options and they didn't want to compromise that approach. Most of us believe that that is marketing-speak for "we don't want to devalue the S63/65."

He's a good friend of mine so would never BS me. He said they might with the 08s but as of now no option. I'm looking at having them install one for me. I can get one for my exact color if I wait from brabus since they take them off regualrly for their body kits. (Have a friend their too) One catch is I would have to mod the rear section as the exhaust is quite different on the 600 vs the 550 or 63. What a pain.

True if they offered this option on the 600 it would hurt the 65 sales as you can mod the 600 and get 65 performance for 1/3 of the price difference.

Wouldnt this pic be nice with a twin turbo V12 and an extra 100lbs of torque in it

Talking AMG C216 Kit

Hi SpeedThrills,

I spoke to my local Fletcher Jones parts guy and he gave me a quote for the Front, Side Skirts, and Rear Bumper for $3000 which I believe it does not include the fog lights if available. He told me it shows in the German system that there are 17 kits in stock there. Unfortunately these kits aren't allocated yet for the U.S. market.

Thanks for the info. Is it true that the rear skirt and bumber will not accomodate the CL600 exhaust? If so what mods would have to be done? I wouldn't ever think of going though this trouble if I didnt think the TT V12 was worth it. It is! Basically turns the car into a detuned CL65 at a HUGE discount.

Definitley interested so please e-mail me the details when you have them. I assume you are talking about a specific AMG CL600 kit correct? Probably same kit that will go on the 65.

Thanks!

They offered it on the 215 CL600. Get the 600, add the AMG body kit, throw in some custom wheels, then go with Renntech and have a car with 110% of the power of the 65. You would have a car that looked better and outperformed the 65 to boot.

Like SpeedTrills said AMG Package is not a "Factory" option for W216 CL600. I spoke with the salesman that deals with higher end customers(SLR's, Maybach, 63's, 65's etc) today at MB Greenway and he said nope. Its also in their brochure:

An option code for the sport package exists for the 216. It is currently unavailable on CL600's in the US market, but is available in other markets.

There are some high volume dealers in the US that have been able to order cars with options or colors that are not offered in the US, i.e. Sunburst Yellow SL65's and Mars Red CL65's.

Try Glauser in Colorado or MB of Tampa.

It can be done, and it has been done. In fact, a few weeks ago, Glauser had a special-order 2007 S600 with sport pkg on ebay. Keep trying.

My Fletcher Bnz contact called me back and said he confirmed the CL550 AMG kit WILL fit the CL600. Now I am just trying to locate a kit. My friend says he can get one at a tremendous discount from a source that has been installing Brabus kits and keeping the AMG parts they have removed. In a perfect world if I can find a spare kit in my color but I'm not that picky and have no problem having it painted. Found this car on ebay below. If I can replicate this HP with the AMG kit and wheels I'm one happy camper.

Try to special-order the car with the package on it from the factory. Buying a kit and installing it is an alternative if you can find one in your color, but I wouldn't paint one, as you won't get the scratch-resistant nano-particle paint that comes from the factory.
