Ordered an 08 that's supposed to be built in march. Didn't ask about the wood wheel option, but really want it! I ordered a White with Cashmere, and saw previous pics on this site with the wood wheel. Does anyone know if it's an option? The AMG site only shows the leather wheel...

 

Yes wood wheel is an option on the CL63. The only problem is that by selecting the wood wheel option, you lose the AMG steering wheel with Paddle Shift.

 

Does the wood wheel still have the paddles? Just not the larger aluminum amg paddles correct? I assume it stiil has the same tranny.

 

Yes, exactly that, it has the old style 'buttons' behind the steering wheel,like the SL55.

 

Is this 08 model being built now, are the cl63's launch models all 08's?

Yes, CL63 and S63 are 2008 models. They should start appearing in the US in April.

 

I have a CL63 on order as well. White/cashmere with 030 performance package and the Premium II package. My Merc salesman said that he they won't start production until April with delivery maybe in JUNE! It surprised me but as long as I am the first to get one around here, I can wait. For what it is worth, it may be all BS, but he said I should be one of the first in N. America to get mine....we'll see at around 150k too!

 

I've got a "first decade" April build date (07/04-1 from Netsar) and my dealer expects the car to be here in May. He said US production would actually commence in March and that the April build date for my CL63 was earlier than he had initially anticipated. I didn't go for the 030 package, but did order P02 Premium 2, Y83 Alcantara Headliner and 233 Distronic Plus. And not wanting to break my "streak", it's 775 Iridium Silver and 801 Black Premium Leather, again !
