Didn't want to repost so I just put the link as the original was posted in the SL AMG forum. Any input is much appreciated especially from CL63 owners.

well i did almost the smae thing to a cl63 with my cl600....it may look better but the look on the guy who just bought the cl63 was worth it...i am glad his car looked better made him feel worse....150 morelb/ft of torque will to that to people. go v12 or go home in these cars.

If "modding" is the driving force behind your selection, then based on sheer "numbers", I guess the CL600 would win the battle with the higher torque specs. If however, you want a real head turning, NASCAR roaring V8, then you need to take delivery on the CL63. The AMG body package on the CL63 is stunning and until (if ever) it's offered on the CL600, aesthetically the CL63 is the hands down winner. (IMO)

The SL is still an absolutely gorgeous car, but regretably with the advent of the new S and CL, the SL has become very dated, very quickly. The CL at least for now is the current MB flagship and unless you want to spring for the CL65, the CL63 is the right choice. Not to make your decision any more difficult, but next years major "facelift" on the SL will include a "63" model. Good luck with you decision !

Well said

In places w/endless straight roads and rare/no twisties....like FL, Chic, Dall, Hou, etc....I understand the simplistic fascination w/0-xxx times.....my condolences....

But having recently driven a rental CL600 in LA, it's amazing how weak/non-confidence-inspiring 600's steering/brakes/ABC calibration are (vs CL63) even in brisk driving on busy LA fwys...let alone any visits to mtn twisties around LA....

Had a somewhat similar view of '07 SL65 I had last Fall....theoretic accel/hp/tq mean little if car lacks confidence-inspiring traction (even on dry, uneven CA fwys)...or lacks competent brake pedal feel (SL65 had too much pedal travel before any bite)....

Need many dynamic elements of a car to flow well for any responsible driver to enjoy driving it briskly on public roads.....steering/brakes/tq/traction/chassis balance/passive safety, etc etc....
