I've got almost 43k on an '03 and no abc problems in the 15k that I've put on it.

Broke a couple of motor and transmission mounts but I chalk that off to the extra torque from the ASP pulley.

Of course, the SC pump croaked.

i owned a Cl500 before and looking into getting a used Cl55,

How much you think you spend in repair bills in the 15k miles you drove your '03?
If it was covered under warranty, how much would you think it would have been?
I anticipate repair bills with these cars, just want to know how much...

Maybe $800 in repairs.
I've spent twice that in rear tires.

I have a 2003 CL55. ABC has been a problem. Bad control valve, band lines, bad strut, tempermental in hot or cold weather, not a ig fan of monsoon season. I have not had issues like squating. Have had about $20K in repairs since I got it last June. AM Warranty covered about 75% of that. As much of a pain in the @$$ it has been with all of the shop time, I still love the car.

It seems that the updated 03 and later models have less trouble then the ones previous to this. Correct me if I'm wrong? Or maybe the amazing engines just make people forget the problems more I know I would.

Hello, If you plan on spending X amount of dollars for repairs than you should plan on spending X amounts of dollars on a good warranty!!! I've owned an 02 CL55 and failed to buy a warranty it costs me about $7,0355.00 in the first 18 months of owning it. I assumed that since I have a Lexus with no warranty and it gave me absolutly no problems so could a Benz I got rid of her and than bought an 03 SL55 and 04 CL55 last month and I made sure I invested in a real good warranty company for both. With warranties u need to ensure that they pay by coorperate credit cards, use only OEM products, they don't specify so much what they cover but list only the items that they don't cover. Alway's call and ask for specifics like do u cover the Kompressor being as though in contracts they refer to it as supercharger, it's the same as we americans call it the supercharger but with warranties u want to be clear and very clear. Also ensure that they cover your ABC and all electric switches and computers, trans and other major engine items. Now if they say they cover almost everything they should just list what they don't cover, when a company starts to tell u what they do cover too much it worries me. I run Carfax reports on cars and there you'll see a link for extended warranties , those warranties are carfax and Capital One backed you should be fine. I have been told that in 04 with the AMG's they worked out all of the kinks which explains my issues with the 02 CL55. It's touch and go with these cars sometimes you get a bad apple sometimes u don't. Oh, dig deep when one tells you you are getting a bumper to bumper warranty, as far as i'm concerned that's one that covers everything minus small things like brakes and winshieldwiper blades, get my point?

02 CL55 AMG Repairs:

$2,000.00 ABC Pump
$1,600.00 R. Rear Shock
$1,500.00 Alternator
$750.00 Valve Block
$750.00 Valve Block
$150.00 Calibration
$150.00 Calibration
$135.00 Battery

TOTAL: $7,035.00

Warranty for my SL55 & CL55 $3,900.00 each.
